Chapter 9 Night Has Come — Broken Spear, Petrified, Faro Fight
Chapter 9 walkthrough: worm stealth, Broken Spear tomb, Theseus Echo 4, Petrified introduction, duel with Faro. Steam Deck crash reports at the opening.
After the cutscene, keep a save in mind
Handheld and some Proton setups report a hard crash right after Chapter IX’s opening cutscene (CPU/GPU spike). On Deck, if you loop-crash, copy the save to a desktop Steam client, push past the beat, and copy back. Worthplaying and Steam Deck HQ both logged the hitch; there is no official hotfix at time of writing.
Gameplay: run the worm, light the rotatable lamps, stealth the ruins. Dante’s Inferno — Canto V is down a right path after petrified bodies. Seals chest through rocks on the left. Broken Spear: after a worm beat, left of the main stealth bowl, tomb on a ledge (sprint attacks pierce shields). Phosphate Ring through a crouched wall hole by a lamp. Echo 4: Minos’ palace — after you smash a pedestal for light and squeeze a gap, balcony, crawl left through the wall to a Pierced Coin altar.
Petrified and Faro
Petrified cannot be sworded. Light burns them; slow walking does not wake them; footsteps lure them (Baitfish later in XIII). End of chapter: you fight Faro. He is a companion fight, not a myth boss — parry yellow, dodge red, do not get greedy.
Next: Chapter 10: Parallel Paths. Deck notes: Steam Deck page.
